The colorful Urania Ripheus/Sunset Moth is considered to be one of the most impressive and beautiful insects of the Lepidoptera species in the Uraniidae family. The iridescent parts of the wings do not have pigment. The beautiful colors originate from optical interference.

These real butterfly wing earrings feature an oval shaped sterling silver setting that frames the wings beautifully. The wings are and cut and preserved in a clear resin coating for long lasting protection and wear.  

Before their natural passing, the butterflies and moths used to make this jewelry live on Preservation Farms where their life span is significantly longer than it is in the wild. Due to the organic nature of this item, each piece is truly unique.
